Wild Times, Calming Thoughts
What's Inside?
There’s No Business Like Show Business
“We have yet to become aware of the fact that we embrace the world within ourselves.” We are dazzled with what occurs around us. We are sure that someone or something else is creating what we perceive as real. “They” are doing something “out there” in the world.
What if the “show” originates from within? What if our thoughts, expectations, beliefs & emotions produce our experiences? We already know this when we speak of “self-fulfilling prophecy” or “we get what we project.” Yet, the “show” compels us to look out at the “stage” & react as though we are only the audience rather than the producer.
It’s easier & far more entertaining to look “out there” at the ever-shifting show than to get quiet, go within & acknowledge expectations, fears & desires & then see how our actions arise from them.
It’s true that we all create our “world” together. Our collective fears & beliefs become the “projector” of the movie we collectively see. When we tell each other what we see & what we expect, we draw more attention & therefore more creation of that vision. The more doom & gloom we project & share, the more of it we can expect to experience together.
Individually, we can veer from the collective projection, at least in our own “world.” But until we become aware of how the collective “show” impacts & affects our own thoughts & fears, we can be easily swept along. Let’s face it, we love the show! Whether we love to complain about it, eagerly do something about it or just watch in fascination, there’s no business like show business!
When we realize we aren’t passive receivers but the actual creators of our dramas, we can intentionally shift our reality. It means getting “real” with ourselves about how we truly believe & feel about ourselves, others & what we expect.
We say we want peace, but inside, how peaceful are we? We want justice & respect for all, but how much respect do we feel for others? When we want justice, are we getting ready to judge & punish? To look at this is to find the real drama inside. Then we realize the show we are watching is actually our show within.
